Shefali Salwan is a certified Executive Coach and a Global Human Resources Consultant with over 20 years experience in Talent Management, Coaching, Leadership Development, Assessments and Diversity and Inclusion. She has worked and lived in India, Netherlands, UK, Singapore and is currently based in New Jersey.
Shefali is coaching executives in the Private Equity, Financial Services, Professional services, Pharma, Banking, Telecom, IT, FMCG and the arts sector. She is a coach to senior women in a Executive Leadership Program in the greater New York area by Rutgers. Shefali consults with a Top 3 Global Private Equity firm and her work includes creating repeatable models to drive transformation and mobilization of portfolio companies to accelerate value creation. In addition, she is an independent contractor for a number of Leadership Development Companies including Korn Ferry and Executive Core.
In the recent past, she has coached senior executives and CEO’s across South Asia, Central Asia, North and East Africa for a global coaching initiative of Womens World Banking (A network of Micro Finance Institutions) including in diverse cultures like Ethiopia, Egypt, and Central Asia. Some of her past clients have included the former Chief Investment Officer of one of the largest Mutual Funds in South Asia, The head of products for a large Telecom company, The CFO of a Publishing company in South East Asia, the Head of HR of one of India’s most admired companies, the entire Management board of an MNC Oil company within a country. She has also been a learning coach for participants in a Leadership development program at Wharton Business School.
As a coach, Shefali integrates her global experience in organizations across many countries and industries with a deep understanding of psychological frameworks, diversity issues, assessment tools and leadership development. In addition, she brings first hand knowledge of the nuances and pressures of being a corporate executive in a VUCA world. This helps her to create the right blend of frameworks and practical applications for her clients with a strong bias on behaviour change. Shefali epitomizes change: she has worked and lived in 5 countries in a dual career family, being the primary care giver to 2 young children.
Her corporate experience spans global and local roles in India, Netherlands and UK and Singapore. She was the Global Lead for Diversity and Inclusion in Unilever, from 2006 till early 2008, in London and was a member of the Global Diversity Board led by the CEO of Unilever. In this assignment, she worked directly with the Chief HR officer. While in the UK, she led the design of a new Global Talent and Performance Management system for Barclays Global Credit Cards business. She also held senior positions in the Banking industry prior to moving to the Netherlands in 2004 which included the role of Head of Resourcing for ANZ Bank in India and HR Head for the ANZ Funds Management business. She was also the head of HR for SBI Capital Markets, a leading investment bank.
Her HR consulting experience includes corporations like Tata Motors, Unilever, HSBC as well as Oil, Textiles and Logistics majors. The focus areas were Leadership development and assessments. She has also supported a large Multinational trading organization, based in Singapore, with their Diversity and Localisation efforts.
Shefali holds an MBA in HR from India’s top business school for HR – XLRI. She has a graduate degree in Psychology from Delhi University. Shefali is accredited in a range of Psychometric tools including MBTI, Saville and Holdsworth; Thomas Profiling System. Shefali is certified by International Coach Federation as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC). She is also a graduate of Ontological Coaching from NewField, USA and Academy Of Executive Coaching UK.
